It
was our distinct honor to be the special guests of the well known
and distinguished Low Country Presbyterian Church
in Bluffton, SC. This is a beautiful resort area only a few miles from
Hilton Head. It was a different experience for us and one I will cherish
for the rest of my life. As you can see in the pictures at the bottom
of the page, the church is gorgeous, featuring soft pastel colors in
decor and an absolutely breath taking cross. But more than that, it
was confirmed that the family of God reaches all people in all churches,
as the spirit of the Lord was awesome in all three services. Pastor
Jerry Kramer and all the wonderful parishioners were so kind and thoughtful
throughout our visit.
On Saturday evening our concert was presented in the usual format to
a full sanctuary. We were joined by many Baptists visitors along
with Methodists, Catholics, Episcopal and Pentecostals. It was
great to see and feel the unity of the body exhibited in such a loving
manner as everyone worshiped and enthusiastically responded throughout
the concert. At both the 8:30 and 10:30 am services on Sunday we were
privileged again to sing and minister to hundreds, some hearing our
style of music for the first time. One lady said she had never heard
this type of music before and thought it was heavenly, as she was getting
several of our CD's. It is very rewarding when people tell you how
your music has touched them. Many bought our CD's and we sold out of
some and I will be mailing them out this week.
This will now be an annual date for us and I am already looking forward
to returning. Also, I want to give a special thanks to Elder Jim Dove,
who set up this visit and to our dear friends, Andy and Nancy Shearhouse,
for inviting us to be their guests at their six bed room six bath
home on the river. We are still enjoying Andy's special recipe of the
delicious fig cake that he made for us.
PRAISE THE LORD!
We have just been notified that when the deadline came at 12:00
noon on October 15, and the votes were counted on all the hundreds
of songs from the DJ's across the nation, the Georgians new hit
single received enough votes to debut at No. 50 on the Singing
News top 80 chart. We are very excited as this is the first time
this has ever happened. Needless to say, we are overwhelmed,
but know it is because of favor with our Lord. Both our recording
company
and radio promotion company are ecstatic as this will open some
more doors for our ministry. I am thrilled that a song with this
title and message was that well received, "It's Called Amazing
Grace". To know that at a crucial time in our nation, DJ's
and listeners realize that we need God's 'Amazing Grace' more
than ever. We ask for your prayers that next month will be even
higher
on the chart.
This song was written by a pastor friend of the group that Elbert
introduced us to in Rison, Arkansas. We have been his guest twice
at his church. He recently told me some time ago now that he
was studying for a sermon, and kept being reminded of so many things
that had happened to him, as well as the simple things of life
like listening to the birds sing, or seeing a flower bloom, because
of God's grace. So, he was inspired to write this song at that
time. I might add he has written many other fine songs. Thank
you
brother Jim Tollison.
We were recently honored to be the guest at Happy Gospel Church
in Bradenton, Florida where noted gospel music promoter Bill
Biley is the pastor. This was one of those very special services
where
God's presence was very strong from the start to finish. The
stage was set as the service began with water baptism that included
a lady in her nineties getting re-baptized that moved everyone
so much we could hardly stay in our pews. After pastor Bill
led us in worship with some 'old fashion' singing with great
music the Georgians sung their hearts out with the congregation
joining in to worship by continually standing and praising the
Lord. Many times I wish I could convey the spirit that is felt
during our services as it seems God's favor is with us more than
ever in a mighty way. We give him all the Glory.
Also, a special time was at Northwest Baptist Church in Gainesville,
FL. This is the home church for Elbert and Pat. What is amazing
is that all churches are different, but we all part of the family
of God, so even though the worship sometimes varies, we are in
one accord and one spirit. We had a great time in the Lord even
as some senior citizens responded excitedly and expressively.
It is always delightful to see our friend Michael Mosby, the
minister of music, and we got to meet Pastor John Johnson.
